“The Heir” by Grace Burrowes

The Heir (Duke's Obsession, #1; Windham, #1)

The Heir by Grace Burrowes

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I LOVED the first half of the book. The banter between Anna (the female MC) and Gayle (the male MC) was adorable and brought smiles to my face.

However, it unnecessarily dragged on a lot! Anna kept not confiding in Gayle, even though she loved him and, seemingly, they were close together. And in the end, the ‘secret’ of why she was running away and so dramatically couldn’t tell anyone about it, made me roll my eyes. All brought out of proportion.

That, on top of the two of them pussy-footing around the other, not telling each other their feelings RIGHT up to the last bloody chapter…

UGH, frustrating beyond belief.

And let’s not start with the incongruities, such as cookies and muffins being served in a book supposedly set in regency England. It’s biscuits and cupcakes, my dear. BISCUITS AND CUPCAKES.
