The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard

The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard by Ravina Hilliard

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Very pleasantly surprised with this romance: the female MC is the bodyguard, tasked with protecting the male MC!

Alexandra / Lex works in a security company that offers bodyguard services to important people. Politicians? VIPs? Filthy-rich peeps? She’s done it all before!
The latest mission, however, is not to her liking: she’s been tasked with protecting a billionaire after death threats had been made to him, COVERTLY. For obvious reasons, the ‘covert’ part of the job is rubbing her the wrong way, but turns out it’s needed.

Michael / Mike is a self-made technology billionaire. The fact that he ‘hated’ Alexandra because he thought she was a gold-digger was a tad irritating.

Although the female MC here is a bodyguard, not much action drama happens, but the novel is instead mainly focused on the romance between the two MCs. This was perfect for me (as I don’t really care for action and fighting and such) but I must say I would have been ambivalent either way: it’s not every day you come across a book with the female MC being the ‘protector’, so seeing her properly doing her job would have been very interesting!

The writing was pretty good, but some times it would become a bit too heavy description-wise. There were also some grammatical errors here and there, but nothing too major.

All in all, I enjoyed this read!
